Soli® was developed initially at Boston University, with help from faculty at the Harvard Business School, MIT and Babson. It was pilot tested at BU as GreenCampusPoints.com with more than 12 local merchants (including Starbucks, CVS, Radio Shack, Panera Bread, Barnes & Noble) and more than 65 website Affiliate partners.
The experience led to Soli becoming a finalist in the Harvard Business School New Venture competition, as well as in the international MassChallenge accelerator initiative (MassChallenge.org).
Climate change is one of the major challenges facing us today. Most people feel there is nothing they can do that will have a significant impact on climate change – but that’s not true! Together, students, staff, faculty and alumni of any college or university as well as anyone outside of academia can make a difference every day and cumulatively over time with the Soli program. Anyone can participate in the quest against climate change.
Academia remains a major market segment (20 million across the US in higher education, mostly all acolytes for green) that can be addressed easily with existing infrastructure servicing the industry. It’s noteworthy that each year the segment gains new students (approx 25% of addressable audience), while graduates are expected to remain as Soli Members.
SoliPoints™: A big idea addressing a big need. Soli® works synergistically with its sister association Climate Remediation Foundation to fight climate change.
When it comes to reducing carbon, Soli goes beyond mere energy reduction. Soli goes directly to the sources of CO2 and prevents it from happening in the first place.
